I read NO such thing about this one. The built in vacuum hose attachment is great and the safety features a also great. But a common theme across all table saws was the hours spent in setting it up. At 58 I'm done trying to save a few bucks with low end tools. Buy for name brand or invest for known quality the choice is yours and mine was very clear after using this one.Hope it helps out you folks looking for a quality product and minimal hype. I am not a carpenter by any means but this tool will serve the Home owner for decades.
I ripped laminate flooring as thin as a matchbook cover the entire length of a given board, amazing.
First thing I noticed is the well engineered zero gravity stand.
Did not spend hours setting up anything.
I was about to buy a Craftsman to install our third laminate floor.
My old table saw was a 7" Craftsman, belt driven over 50 years old and shook like an earthquake.Invest in fine tools and your projects have a head start for success and the rest is up to you.
This alone is genius.
The soft start motor gets you 4 hp on a 120vac line.
I used a machinist ruler and a square and the blade was so close it could not be measured and it is good enough for me.
My second Bosch product and the quality shows even to the layout and storage of its tools.
Honestly, I'm not sure why they didn't just leave it that way.- The included miter gauge fits sloppily in the slot. All things considered, this is a good portable saw for the price. I had to purchase an aftermarket unit with adjustable width in order to make decent crosscuts.- There is no way to lock the blade height, so it may change gradually because of vibrations or accidental nudging as you work. I'd have gone with a larger saw if I had room for one, but I have to be able to tuck my tools off to the side in order to put my vehicles in the garage.Rather than go into detail about what it does well, I'll just list my complaints:- The included blade is of mediocre quality (though that's to be expected from stock blades these days)- The texture of the table top looks like bead blasted metal, but from what I can tell it's some sort of spray coating. It's rubbing off in some areas to reveal a smoother surface underneath. This can be a problem if you are doing partial cuts (such as dadoes for box joints) and need a constant depth.- A considerable amount of dust goes to the floor under and behind the saw, even when hooked to a shop vac.- The blade tilt adjustment is awkward. It has positive stops at 45 and 90 degrees, but anything else is best done with a good angle gauge and a helper to hold it in place while you use both hands to set the blade angle.- The storage for the included push stick is on the back of the saw, instead of one of the sides where it would be easily in reach.
This saw would benefit for the type of bag the hangs underneath.I have no idea why the combo 4100DG-09 kit below costs more than this kit and the digital gauge sold separately. If you have any intention of ripping anything 50% longer than the table length and only have two hands, get these two add-ons.I passed on the TS1004 saw dust bag because I prefer to use a shop vac for saw dust extraction.
From the smallest projects to the deck I just finished, I couldn't be happier with this table saw based on the other choices available.With a lot of saws going cheap these days, this one is full featured and well laid out.Pros:- quick and easy to assemble- the design of the stand is brilliant. Exactly what I wanted to be able to do and do it quickly.- modern european style blade guard, riving knife and anti-kickback pawl- decent push stick for a freebee- will trip the breaker with the shop vac running (powerful motor)Cons:- Saw dust everywhere as others have reviewed- I wish the plastic guard under the table was a little wider to make blade removal easier but the saw does have to tilt after all.
I'll try not repeat what others have already said but I've had no difficulties with this saw including setup. 6 out of 5 stars otherwise.- no miter slot sized groove in fence so I count mount a 3rd party miter slot featherboard- entire table is non-ferrous alloy so no magnetic accessories won't work (par for this class)Accessories:I bought the two table extensions (TS1002 rear and TS1003 left) and they mounted without the difficulties other people have experienced.
This requires you to wind the blade almost all the way to the top.- "factory" quality supplied saw blade is adequate but average- sliding mitre gauge is just ok- no featherboard includedWish list:- paddle switch I can turn off with my knee- no fine adjustment wheel for tilt. This must be a feature protected by patent.
Whoever said this table saw was the greatest sawdust propagation device wasn't kidding: I cannot see how the saw dust bag would do any good. I DO NOT OWN THIS SAW A CARPENTER WHO WORKS FOR ME DOES MY DEWALTS WERE ON OTHER JOBS. EVERYTHING ABOUT THE SAW WAS GREAT THE LEGS/STAND, SOFT START UP WITH NICE POWER KINDA BOGGED DOWN WITH HICKORY, THE FENCE STINKS BAD HANGS UP NOT EASY I WOULD BUY ONE IF THE FENCE WAS BETTER. I LIKE MY DEWALTS THE RACK AND PINION IS GREAT JUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE FENCE TO BLADE AND TUNE UP THE TAPE INDICATOR SO YOULL BE MORE EFFICIENT. WHEN I WAS JUST STARTIN THIS OL CARPENTER TOLD ME THE LESS TIMES YOU PULL OUT YOUR TAPE THE BETTER, ITS TRUE THINK ABOUT IT.
I put a thin kirf Freud blade on mine and it works even better. Plenty of power.
I ordered the extensions for the side and back and the dust bag for use outside. This saw is great, whether on the job or in the shop.
It moves very nice. the extra stuff is very affordable and well worth it.
I like the fence it comes with. I suggest a better blade for the saw though.
I highly recommend this saw to anyone who wants a saw that will last and take some abuse.
